Hello! My name is Tim Rosko. I am the creator and host of this here podcast called 50 Bad Songs. 50 Bad Songs is a behind-the-scenes look at the process of transforming ideas & experiences into music & lyrics, also known as Songwriting! In each episode, you will hear a brand new song and how it came into existence.

Why are you writing 50 bad songs?

They say that for every top-charting, radio-hit song there are countless songs that don't quite make the cut. Some even say it is expected that the first 50 songs you write will inevitably be bad. So I have decided to commit myself to writing those first 50 bad songs. Listen in as we make our way through the weird, the painfully corny, and the truly unlistenable parts of the songwriting process. Listen to our struggle as we try our best to practice letting ourselves be 'bad' in order to get good. By removing the self-imposed pressure to write a ‘good’ song, we allow ourselves the freedom to write any song. And by writing song after song, eventually, we will get better. Only by actually writing can we get better at writing!

What is an episode of the podcast like?

The episodes have taken a journey of their own over the course of the 3 seasons. When we first started, I would have a conversation with a guest and from our conversation we would find the seeds of an idea that would then become the basis of a new song that we would write together. NOW instead of a real time behind-the-scenes experience, the episodes are more of a retrospective discussion on the process behind a specific song. We listen to the song and then we talk about things like what the inspiration was, how the lyrics and music were written, what kind of production things we tried, and what lessons we learned along the way. Then, after the discussion, we listen to the song again with new ears. Our songs range in style from tender piano ballads to 90s discotheque HITS and cover all kinds of topics like personal growth, FOMO, and ~the summer sun~.

Hopefully by listening to this podcast, you will be inspired to find your own way to write songs, create music, or try something new you’ve always wanted to try!

What I do

As well as writing the songs, I do all the recording, editing, and music production on each episode. I also do the planning, scheduling, and management of the show.

Who else is involved

Season One featured the wonderful talents of Anna C Reilly as co-host. Otherwise, we frequently have guests on the show and we will continue to have more guests as the show continues to grow. With your continued support, I would like to eventually pay some people to help with production.

What is Patreon and why are you using it?

Patreon is a platform that allows fans to directly support creators by pledging to send a regular payment of their choosing. Instead of depending on advertisers or sponsors and shaping our content to fit their needs, everything we create will serve our audience and will be created with them in mind.

50 Bad Songs is still free to listen to and enjoy, but by subscribing to our Patreon you are helping to ensure that the episodes keep coming out regularly and maintain consistency in quality and production. With your support, we will also be able to invest in better equipment and create even more exciting content for your enjoyment. Take a look at our Rewards and our Goals to learn more.

Please consider supporting us and becoming a Patron. It would just mean the world to me personally, but also you'll be able to sleep easy knowing you have helped to supply the world with 50 Bad Songs. THANKS YALL
